I fell in love with Diving on Holiday and I knew that when I returned to the UK, I wanted to get fully qualified, and make it a regular hobby!
So as soon as I got home, I searched for my nearest BSAC club. I rang the club number provided on the website, and a lovely lady called Tracy answered the phone, she talked me through the club, what the club likes to get up too, and what I was aiming to get out of the club. She invited me down to a club night where I met some of the other members and had a cheeky little beer with them all. I then came to the next pool session, and from there, the training and beginning of my favourite hobby started!
I was greeted by a friendly chap called Simon, who I soon realised had been diving longer than I had been alive on this earth! Nonetheless, his experience came in abundance, and was invaluable during my training, he had a story for every lesson we did, he made it real, achievable and exciting.
Throughout my entire training period, Tracy and Simon made sure that I was confident in everything I learnt, taking each lesson at whatever pace suited me, letting me get to know the other members of the club and really integrate myself into it.
Now my training has been completed, I have continued going on dive trips with members of the club, near and far, staying away and completing multiple dives over a weekend, while still managing to get some time for a cheeky beer or two!
I have not regretted nor would change any part of my journey. If you’re thinking about giving it a go, then I would 100% recommend it! What have you got to lose?
