Easter Seahouses/Farne Islands trip – 7th -14th April 2023.

A great trip to the Farne islands staying in accommodation in Seahouses, morning diving and afternoon family time seemed to work well. A few obscure north islands dive sites due to tempramental weather conditions – such as St Cuthberts Gut, Keenys Bus and North Wamses as well as the wreck of the St Andre and the Pinnacles. No other diver groups there which gave us a choice of diving where we wanted.

Diving was great but cold and hats and gloves were a must – new and senior divers made for a good combination, however some issues with buoyancy and leaky zips made for a few laughs, I’ve never heard of light fins before!

Although the sea was cold and green there was plenty of life – crabs of all kinds, lobsters, scallops,
seals, large cod and smaller wrasse and whiting.

The boat performed exceptionally well and carried 8 fully kitted divers easily. All equipment was perfect for the task and had its place.

Permanent weeks mooring in the harbour made for easy access and gear storage, plus removal and charging of cylinders was planned in with Toby at Sovereign divers. During the week we tried nearly all the local hostelries including – kebabs, Indian, Chinese and British food and the usual fish and chips from Lewis’s. Plus, I think the shares in beer and wine companies must have gone up – well done Russ.

All in all, an excellent week’s diving!!!! Thanks – Steve and Jo, James, Becky, Jess and Lola, Tony and Fiona, Russ and Steph, Steve and Debs, Phil and Joe and Macauley.
